A Night for Statchel is an annual festival that was founded by Vince Avery McCoy in honor of Statchel Edwards, an extraordinary musician and mentor. The festival was created to bring back an awareness of jazz to Antigua Barbuda while showcasing the talent hidden in the country's young musicians. Additionally, the festival serves as a fundraiser for the St John Hospice. 

This year's festival, in 2024, marks the 5th installment of A Night for Statchel. Each year, the festival brings together a diverse group of musicians from Antigua Barbuda and the surrounding Caribbean region. The festival includes performances from both established and up-and-coming artists, giving attendees the opportunity to discover new music and connect with the local jazz community. Statchel's Night is not just about the music, but also about giving back to the community. As we mentioned earlier, proceeds from the festival are donated to the St John Hospice, a service which provides in home palliative care for the terminally ill. 

By attending A Night for Statchel, festival-goers are not only enjoying great music, but also supporting a worthy cause. In addition to its mission of raising awareness of jazz and supporting the St John Hospice, Vince also hopes to create an institution out of the festival. In the future, he hopes to attract international artists to the festival, making it a destination for jazz lovers from around the world. With each year, the festival continues to grow and evolve, and attendees can look forward to an exciting lineup of performances and a supportive, inclusive community.
